Bulgogi

The other night, I made a family favorite that I can remember eating from when I was a little kid, Bulgogi. Bulgogi, is a Korean dish of thinly sliced marinated beef. One thing that I love about this recipe is that the marinade hardly takes any time to throw together, and after the meat is marinated it only takes about 10 minutes to cook it all up, and dinner can be on the table!

Bulgogi

1lb beef (round or flank, thinly sliced against the grain)

Marinade:

4T Sugar
2T Vegetable Oil
6T Soy Sauce
Speck of Pepper
3 Green Onions(Green and White Parts cut up)
1 Garlic Clove minced
4T prepared sesame seeds

Here is the cast of characters, minus the sugar and the pepper! Also I used canola oil, because I didn't have any vegetable oil on hand, and the dish turned out just fine!

Chop up the green onions, and combine all the other marinade ingredients into either a large bowl or a zip-loc plastic bag, since you will be marinating the meat for a few hours.

Your marinade should look like this right about now.
Next take your thinly sliced beef, and add it to the marinade. Marinate for at least for a few hours so all the flavors can marry together.

After Marinating the meat for at least a few hours, (if you don't have a few hours, try to marinate at least for one hour) line a cookie pan (that has sides!) with foil.  Make sure to use a baking pan with sides and to use foil. This will make for easy clean-up!

Turn your oven broiler on high, and cook for about four minutes on one side, and then flip the meat and cook the meat on the other side for about 3-4 minutes until the meat is cooked through.

Another close-up of the foil lined pan before going into the oven.

Dinner is done! It is very quick and easy, and really yummy, so give it a try! (Sorry for the horrible final picture! My camera died right after I took this!) I served my bulgogi over brown rice with a side of broccoli and mango!

I hope the Easter Bunny comes and visits everyone tonight!

Hugs,

Caroline
