Welcome to the North Country--Part One

I might have got a little bit ahead of myself in yesterday's post with some of my recently learned New York jargon. Let me help you all catch up. I mentioned a place that some of you all might not be oh so familiar with and that is the North Country, or the place I now call home.

The North Country is comprised of six counties in upstate New York. This includes the little quaint village I live in, Carthage, as well as the town of Watertown. Watertown is the biggest town closest to me, about 15 miles away, and where the nearest Target store is.

This is a very important detail, because I may have a little addiction to Target, especially their $1 section. I also have a problem that I can't leave the store without spending at least $40! Does anyone else have that problem? Or is it just me? I can't be the only one...right?

Any who, I digress, back to the North Country. This part of New York boarders Lake Ontario, and The Saint Lawrence River, as well as the the Canadian Provinces of Quebec and Ontario.  We are to the Northwest of the Adirondack Mountains, and still five hours from NYC!  But we do have the Amish! I was lucky to have my first horse and buggy sighting this afternoon while in downtown Watertown. I love the Amish, not sure why, but I do!

Well I hope this starts to explains the good ole' North Country...check back in tomorrow when I rehash my first impression and experience in the North Country!

Hugs,

Caroline
