Thankful Thursday's: Speical Edition

It's Thursday!!! Whew, this week has really flown by, it's hard to believe that there is only one more day till Friday! This is a very special edition of Thankful Thursday's, and a little different then my normal Thankful Thursday's write-ups!  It's a little personal, so I hope you can handle that...

Tomorrow marks six months since I was released from the hospital after a week and half stay for being very, very sick. Part of my stay involved being in the ICU! It has been a journey to getting better, and at the beginning of my recovery it was really rough, and also pretty scary. I have been slowly going off medicines and injections as my health improves. After seeing several specialists, they still don't know why I got so sick, and most likely we will never know. That is a scary aspect, but what I do know is this: that I am lucky and so thankful to be alive!

I am also very thankful that I am finally off the steroids! It has been about two weeks, and all looks good.  One of the nasty side effects of the steroids for me, (there were a few!) was losing my hair. I know that there are so many people who lose their hair for so many different medical reasons, and I had sort of come to peace with it. It still was hard though to see clumps of my hair continually fall and thin out. The doctors had originally thought that I might need to be on a steroid regiment for 12-18 months, but luckily, I do not have to be! So here is hoping that my hair starts to grow again, but looking at the bright side, I have not gotten a haircut since the middle of September, so here's to some money saved! :)

Through all this God has been so good and faithful to me! I have also had some AMAZING doctors, nurses, pharmacists, family, and friends who have been there every step of the way. Thanks so much to each and everyone of you!

Hugs,

Caroline
