Happy Monday!!! Well are we really happy that it is Monday? I am, because each Monday that comes means that it another day closer to my honey coming home! And that is for sure something to be happy about! But back to the weekend! Did you all have a good one? Hopefully you enjoyed the nice weather!
On Friday I met up with one of my dear friends, Jesci, for lunch at Cafe Rio. If you haven't heard of Cafe Rio it is similar to Moe's or Chipotle and originated on the West Coast. I know that there are not a lot out on the east coast yet, but we do have one here in good ole' Burke. It was Jesci's first time trying it out, and I had been there a few times. They have great salads, nachos and you see a lot of copycat recipes for their sweet pork on Pinterest so I had to try that out on this visit. It was very good, and I am interested in trying one of those copycat recipes out You might even see it on the blog soon! What is also great about Cafe Rio is that on Monday's they offer 50%off for the military! They call it military Mondays! That is a pretty sweet deal, and a great way for them to say thank you!
Friday night was the beginning of the gorgeous weather we had, so we took advantage and grilled out some burgers on the deck.
Saturday, I went to someplace I had never gone before in all of my years of living in the Washington DC metro area, The George Washington Masonic Memorial Temple located in Old Town, Alexandria. It was interesting to learn more about the Masons, George Washington, and from the top of the temple there are some gorgeous views!
After the tour, my parents and I enjoyed a late lunch in Old Town down by the water, and then strolled around Old Town. Old Town is one of my favorite places to walk around, and it is especially nice on a beautiful day. Shaun and I celebrated his 30th birthday in Old Town, and also had our engagement pictures taken in Old Town. This time of year it is beautiful because everything is in bloom!
There was also a stop at Ben & Jerry's! There is something about ice cream on one of the first nice warm spring days. You have to do it, right? Well my mom said we did, so we did! :)
Sunday, I met up with one of my sorority sisters, Katie, for Brunch, and we reminisced about our college days, and caught up on life. That is one of the perks about living in this area is that so many good friends have either returned to this area or have moved here. It is nice to be able to see so many of them while I am living here. The rest of Sunday I spent shopping, and then came home and did laundry. My mom has also got me hooked on some amazing Sunday night PBS shows, Call the Midwife and Selfridges. Anyone else obsessed? She also had got me hooked on Downton Abbey, so I am glad that I have something to watch on Sunday evenings till that comes back on!
So what did you all do fun this weekend? Oh and here are few old engagement pictures from 2011 in Old Town! Enjoy!
Hugs,
Caroline
