Maple Weekend and St. Patrick's Day!

Hello! So I know I am a little late with this post, but Shaun and I had a great St. Patrick's Day weekend that included a New York State Tradition--Maple Weekend!

Maple Weekend is actually two weekends where different maple producers in the state of New York open up their doors to us city folks and show us how real Maple syrup is produced!

We ended up visiting The Sugar Spigot  and had an awesome tour of their facility along with their 2000+ maples trees. We also sampled real maple syrup along with maple butter, and maple cream. I was in sugar overload!

It takes a lot of wood I learned to produce maple syrup!

That is real maple syrup in those pans!

The pipe lines that run from the trees to the vaccums

More wood to make real maple syrup!

On the way home, we drove through the little town of Croghan, and decided to stop at the Croghan Candy Kitchen! Let me just say that we will be back, really delicious homemade chocolates!

Later that night Shaun and I ventured to the North Country Goes Green Irish Festival where we enjoyed some Irish Music and of course some Irish beer. We finished off the evening going to Coleman's Corner a local Irish Pub in Watertown for some authentic Irish fare, and of course a little bit more beer! It was St. Patrick's Day after all! :)

Anyone have big plans for this weekend? Hope everyone has been enjoying the nice weather!

Hugs,

Caroline
